Instant Pre-Screening
Redwood City provides access to Cembla’s Instant Pre-Screening for qualifying permit types. Instant Pre-Screening results in fewer review cycles and faster turnaround times. If you wish to use Instant Pre-Screening, your submittal will be reviewed by AI, and correction comments will be provided immediately to you in this portal. Once you resolve comments and receive a pre-screening score greater than 75%, submit your application via Redwood City's Public Permit Portal and you will receive an expedited review from staff.

Permit Types Available For Instant Pre-Screening:
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)
Including attached and detached ADUs. Our AI system reviews ADU plans for compliance with zoning requirements, setbacks, and building codes.
Residential Additions/Alterations
Alterations or additions of new space to existing residential structures including room additions, garage conversions, and other expansions. Our AI reviews for structural, electrical, and plumbing code compliance.
New Single-Family Homes
Construction of new single-family residential dwellings. Our AI reviews for compliance with building codes, zoning requirements, structural design, and all building systems.
Outdoor Business Activity
Parklets, sidewalk cafes, and other outdoor business activities. Our AI reviews for compliance with commercial zoning requirements, public right-of-way regulations, and accessibility standards.
